AIE has participated in a Masterclass for performing and recording artists in music

The event was organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the National Copyright Office (ONDA) and took place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

During the event, AIE’s Global Business Director, Álvaro Hernández-Pinzón, delivered two conferences: “Artists’ Rights and Collective Management: An International Perspective” and “Strategic Bets for the Music Industry (Artificial Intelligence).”

In the first session, he highlighted the crucial role of public institutions in recognizing strong legislation that protects creativity and artistic work—particularly in the digital sphere, where artists can only ensure fair and effective remuneration through collective management organizations.

Regarding artificial intelligence in the music industry, Hernández-Pinzón emphasized the importance of regulatory developments that safeguard fundamental rights, including image rights, moral and economic intellectual property rights, and personal data protection. He argued that AI developments, when backed by a solid regulatory framework, can be valuable allies for artists—enhancing their creative process and serving as a new revenue stream through music exploitation.

In addition to AIE, representatives and artists from ACINPRO (Colombia), PANAIE (Panama), and SODAIE (Dominican Republic) also took part in the event.

The purpose of this program is to refine musicians’ artistic skills and provide them with a key platform for professional development and industry insights. It aims to equip them with practical knowledge on intellectual property rights, industry standards, and best practices, preparing them to stand out in an increasingly competitive landscape.
