The Society of Artists AIE awarded for the first time the AIE Music Excellence Prize at LIPA, The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, founded by Sir Paul McCartney and Mark Featherstone-Witty in Liverpool, Paul McCartney’s hometown. This prize is given to a graduating student who stands out for their exceptional talent and commitment to music. This significant recognition was presented by Luis Cobos, president of AIE, during the 2024 LIPA Graduation Ceremony.

The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, one of the most prestigious music study centers in Europe, welcomes 400 students from around the world each year. The music director of LIPA is Dr. Martin Isherwood.
The graduating student Álvar Mas-Marmol was selected for his merits and received the AIE Music Excellence Prize.

The new AIE Music Excellence Prize results from the collaboration between AIE and LIPA since 1996. It symbolizes the recognition of students’ talent and effort and showcases the strong relationship between AIE and LIPA, which strengthens the cultural and educational exchange between the Society of Artists AIE and the Institute.

Luis Cobos receives the Honoured Friend Award from Paul McCartney

On July 25, AIE received the “Honoured Friend” award granted by The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA). Luis Cobos accepted the award from Paul McCartney, in recognition of AIE’s longstanding contributions to LIPA, as well as its support for music students and cultural promotion and management.

At the Liverpool Convention Center, during the graduation ceremony of the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, Luis Cobos, president of the Society of Artists AIE and the Iberoamerican Federation of Artists FILAIE, presented ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney with a sculpture representing the universal nature of music and performing arts.

The collaboration between AIE and LIPA has been ongoing since 1996, the year the Institute was founded. Over the years, this partnership has expanded and produced various projects that have benefited students, education, and the art of music.

Among the notable activities are:

1. AIE-LIPA Music Exchange Circuit: An annual special tour where prominent Spanish artists perform alongside LIPA students.
2. AIE-LIPA Scholarships: Since 2000, AIE has awarded and shared 3 annual scholarships for LIPA students, fostering the talent and development of future music professionals.
3. AIE Courses on Intellectual Property: AIE courses held at the Paul McCartney Auditorium for school students, focusing on intellectual property and the rights of performers, which AIE manages internationally.
